Help us save our small town from a big supermarket!
In April 2013, South Lakeland District Council approved – by just one vote – a planning application to build a giant supermarket on the historic site of the old Hartley’s Brewery in the heart of Ulverston’s conservation area. We think this will be a disaster for our town.
Recently we had some good news: we have been given permission to go to Judicial Review, where a judge will look at the evidence and decide whether or not SLDC followed the right process in granting planning permission. The Judicial Review hearing is set for 30th September 2014. We are advised that our case is very strong – but we need to raise £11,000 to carry it through. We’ve already raised £10,200 and have just £800 to go.
